Employment opportunities in the community are limited. Most employment is generated from the Community Store and Community Council. The majority of income is derived from Centrelink Payments (newstart, pensions, etc.). There is no CDEP in the community at the moment.

APPLYING FOR A JOB AT AREYONGA COMMUNITY

WHAT TO SEND US

1. Cover letter
A brief (one page) letter of application stating the position you are applying for and summarising briefly your interest and experience.

2. Statement of Response to the Selection Criteria
The selection panel will rate you on each of the selection criteria included in the Job Description. Read each of the criteria carefully. The selection panel is interested in demonstrated qualities and/or experience so if possible your response to each criteria should include –

Task: What you have done

Performance: How well you did it

Effectiveness: What the successful outcomes were

Applications that do not address the Selection Criteria will not be considered.

3. Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
This should list your contact and relevant personal details, education, photocopies verifying qualifications, trade certificates, employment history and any other information relevant to the position.

4. List of Referees
The names and business hours contact details of three relevant referees who can verify your claims in relation to the selection criteria and employment. These referees must be aware they may be contacted. At least one needs to be from a recent employer.

SELECTION PROCESS

Following the closing date, all applications are graded before a short list is drawn up.

Interview times are then negotiated with short listed applicants who will then be required to provide a police clearance. Results of the interviews are then discussed and brought to the next Council meeting for consideration.

Finally, both the successful and unsuccessful applicants are notified of the decision.

The selection process can take up to four weeks to complete from close of applications.

You will not be notified that your application has been received. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified when the selection process is completed.
